Firm Overview

Carothers & Mitchell, LLC is a general civil litigation firm which practices extensively in the areas of Municipal Law, Governmental Defense, Labor and Employment, Insurance Defense Law, Civil Rights, First Amendment, Premises Liability, Personal Injury and Environmental Law. 


The firm consists of founding partners Richard A. Carothers and Thomas M. Mitchell, along with partners Regina Benton Reid and E. Ronald Bennett, Jr., and associates Peter C. Brown, Amy B. Cowan and Angela Couch Nguyen.  Deborah C. Wakefield and Michael E. Hobbs also serve in an of counsel capacity.

We also have excellent administrative support from our office manager, Jennifer Kirk, three highly skilled legal assistants, who collectively have over 80 years of legal experience.  All of the attorneys have devoted a substantial portion of their law practice over the past years to the representation of governmental entities and insurance clients.

While we remain a small but dynamic firm, we attempt to maximize efficiency and minimize costs to our clients through the use of extensive and constantly updated office technology.  The effect of this substantial technology is to facilitate communication with our clients and each other, and enables us to deliver a product of the highest quality.
